Snapper 58v mower and lithium battery review
after 2 years of having the mower im writing this review , check out my original review and unboxing with setup .
let start with the mower , the chute was my biggest issue , the one that comes with it is horrible , it either needs to mulch which highly reduces the battery performance or use a snap on chute , i replaced the whole setup with a normal chute off my old snapper gas mower that ive used for 15 years and it works perfect , so snapper should consider going backward 15-20 year on that part , the rest of the mower ive been happy with , ive had to tweak the wheel adjustments with a pliers to get them to stay locked but no big deal . it folds nice for storage , the steel deck is holding up well and the blade that came with it is still cutting great without ever sharpening it .
now for the worst part of this mower ... THE BATTERY ....its horrible ! ive had the original replaced twice and i bought a spare which has been replaced once and i still have problems with them , the problem isnt to cells or the charger , the problem is the BMS inside the battery says the battery is defective when there is zero problems at all with the pack , i build lithium batteries for car so i know A LOT about lithium batteries and testing i cant find a weak cell , anything overheating , any cell thats lower or higher , seems the pack is totally fine , but the BMS thinks its overheated constantly , putting a battery in the fridge to cool it does nothing , resetting the bms does nothing , putting it on the charger does nothing , jumping the pack to a higher voltage or manually charging it does nothing . it leads me to believe that the BMS is trash and defective over multiple units . getting them replaced is also a nightmare and the customer service SUCKS ! my local snapper dealer is no help at all either , they give me the run around and have me call which turns into calling 10 different places that never get you anywhere . each time i got it replaced was a different way and none of them were happy to do it . trying to keep this review only about this product is hard because if you were to say compare a harbor freight mower they replace the battery with no hassle and quickly which they also do not have these same issues with the battery and would not need to be replaced near as often .
Anyways to wrap up this review the verdict is DONT BUY IT . the battery problems and customer service make this whole thing not worth buying . if it were not for those 2 things id love this mower.
