LED/ HID dont use much less if at ALL less power , in fact the brighter
LED's for my car actually draw more power !! the headlights not
dimming is due to the LED's having a power supply and regulating
voltage ''there is also a capacitor buffer'' , hence voltage is
dropping still even tho your lights dont dim . if your voltage wasnt
dropping the light would not dim . you dont want voltage drop ! a little
is ok and you wouldn't even notice it in your lights , if its dimming
your lights then what else is dropping voltage ? the computer , all
the other lights , anything without power regulation in the car , so
knocking 4a of draw off your car is not significant enough to change the
drop on everything else and you still have the problem but now you
cant see it as much because of the capacitor and voltage regulation. i
should mention i work with a led light company also and the most common
issue with returned lights is a fail in the voltage regulator due to
it being stressed out trying to maintain voltage . its literally a
bandaid to a real issue.
if you want your halogens not to dim you can do the same thing with 5$
2 16v 1000f caps in parallel right before the headlights . if they
still dim a power supply board can be had for 12$ more and bam no
dimming at all ! the fact of the matter is you dont have the proper
voltage to support your system and nothing you do to your headlights is
fixing the REAL problem .
